Studies show Williamsburg, Brooklyn has one of the highest density of bicyclists of any neighborhood in the US. Overall we view the concentration of cyclists in Williamsburg as a positive, however, municipal infrastructure for locking bikes is lagging behind the demand.
To demonstrate how the problem of a lack of bike parking could be solved, DoTank:Brooklyn developed a prototype for a new bike rack design. The infrastructure hack turns unusable street lamps into viable places to lock a bike with a standard U-lock.

Process sketches explored materials, form, feasibility and security.
